Head Coach, Co-Owner, Jedi
Andrew started FCF with a client inside a garage storage unit in 2007. Now he manages the programming of the majority of workouts for the gym, as well as personalized strength and conditioning programs for individual athletes.
Andrew enjoys being a father to Lily and Jack (and Appa), drinking coffee, the Oxford comma, and waxing poetic about shoes in the functional movement space. He suffers from a slight Napoleon Complex and some sort of attention deficit disorder, which he credits to his ability to teach multiple people at once. Speaking of which–he’s a big fan of Napoleon pockets.. and pants with four-way stretch.. and shoes. Did we mention that?
Owner, Coach, Rocket Scientist
Hailing from the sunny state of California, Tony’s aerospace career brought him up to the NW where he trained with Andrew all the way back at FCF 1.0 in 2008. The two of them decided to open up Foundation CrossFit in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle with a new game plan and new purpose. Because FCF isn’t just a gym–it’s a think tank meant to eventually change the world.
Tony started his fitness career as a young buck who needed to relieve the stress of the day job, and to supplement his volleyballing, surfing, softball, and general beach bumming. He started CrossFitting in Huntington Beach until work moved him to Seattle. Now you can find him operating the gym coaching Olympic weight-lifting while preparing for more Masters World Weightlifting Championships!
AM Coach, Facility Manager, Professional Chef and Competitive Exerciser
Dave is a Seattle-area CrossFit OG. He competed in the CrossFit Games in the Team division and also knows his way around a chef’s knife. He co-hosts a Food, Restaurant-Industry, and Seattle Food Culture podcast called BLOOD & GUT$, and while his ankle mobility needs some loving, his attention to detail does not! When not doing six-part workouts, Dave also enjoys hanging out with his wife and son.
Find him listening to an eclectic mix of grunge, metal, and classic rock in the early mornings and afternoons of the week. He also runs a gamut of specialty Sunday classes.
PM Coach, HIIT Instructor, Team HWPO
Nathan started his CrossFit career with FCF in 2011 as an athlete and has been a prime example of what hard work and dedication can produce! Being an athlete his whole life, Nathan played baseball on Seattle University’s club team and continues to enjoy all outdoor activities – from hiking to wake surfing to snow skiing. He loves his wife Lauren, coffee, dogs, cats, traveling, whiskey, the Fast and Furious movies, and during the day he enjoys working as a web designer.
Look for him leading our seasonal Run Club as well as late-evening CrossFit classes.
Social Media Manager, Coach, Resident Virgo
Kelsi found CrossFit back in 2013 at our former second location in South Lake Union. Hailing from an active background that focused primarily on HIIT and cardio work, she fell for the constantly varied functional movements that we use day in and day out.
In true Seattle-native fashion, Kelsi loves cloudy days, has a nature-crush on the Olympic mountains, detests the use of umbrellas, and refuses to drive in the snow.
When she’s not working out, coaching, or leading FCF’s social, you can find her in the PNW wilderness or in a café writing about travel.
Ryan “Moonboots” Salva
Coach, Owner of silver Chuck Taylors
Although he doesn’t look a day over 25, Mr. Salva is an old soul and easy going guy. Like most of the other staff he never thought himself that he’d eventually become a CrossFit coach. Alas he’s here doing his thing, rocking and rolling his way through fitness while still maintaining his management position with a very Seattle tech company.
His advice for newbies: don’t CrossFit on an empty stomach- especially if the only thing you’ve eaten for the day was a cupcake for breakfast. This gem of knowledge came from his first CF workout that laid him out white as a ghost. Fortunately that wake-up call got him in the next day… and the next, and the next, until finally we gave him a key to the gym!
Find “Boots” teaching HIIT and CrossFit during the weekday evenings, or on some weekends when he’s not traveling.
If Gaia, Mother of the Earth, made love to a Titan, you’d get Coach Sarah–or S.MOHR, as her teammates call her because you’ll certainly want that, some more. With all the warmth of the sun, her award-winning hugs will remedy your cloudy day and anoint you with the strength and power of your untapped potential. Although a new mother to a beautiful baby, she can be found training for parenthood with her husband Colin, cuddling her cats, doing her 539th Whole 30, riding her bike, and tending to her farm and chickens!
Catch Sarah running our Nutrition challenges and CrossFit classes.
PM Coach, Vegan, Long Hair Don’t Care
Working his way to bodyweight mastery, former beach-bum Scott, AKA “Vegan Top-knot Dude” began his fitness journey with Foundation back in 2016 in our On-Ramp program. He quick to learn and improve and before you know it, he became part of the team. His eagerness for learning and constant communication about feedback have greatly affected his athleticism. Also feel free to ask him about vegetarianism and veganism! In his free-time he loves to listen to, play, and create music, as well as snowboarding (“snow-surfing”) in the winter.
Catch Coach Scott in the evenings and on some weekends!
PM Coach, Cycling Enthusiast, Bar Muscle-Up Master
Ron found the light that is CrossFit back in the Midwest, after a lifetime of cross-country, triathalons, and gym bro-ing. He found that the value of work capacity over broad time and modal domains blended his athletic background perfectly and never looked back!
You can catch Ron and his signature sleeveless tees during the early afternoon sessions, sometimes with his Irish Wolfhound Atlas!
HIIT Instructor, Coach, Maverick’s Mama
Upon graduating from Seattle U in 2015, Lauren found CrossFit at FCF while looking for a new fitness routine after years of competitive Irish dance, track and field, soccer, and lacrosse. She fell in love with the constant challenge of building a repertoire of movements and skills, and she’s always down to do a Filthy Fifty or a lifting EMOM.
Lauren is a native Seattleite with a love for rain, lake days, and evergreen trees. She can be found baking yummy cakes and treats for the gym, hanging out with her husband, Nathan, or cuddling with their cat. By day, she works in marketing. Catch Lauren bouncing around the gym in the evenings and some weekends.
Office Manager, Tough Mudder, Tallest on Staff
Growing up in Seattle and graduating UW cum laude, Miles was more of a bookworm than an athlete, preferring instead to train for shooter-games competitively and delve into science fiction outside of his studies. It wasn’t until he was 22 when he decided to take his fitness seriously, diving into CrossFit-style workouts and barbell weightlifting. Standing at 6’2” and 140 pounds, a stiff breeze could blow him away. After 2 years of consistent lifting, he gained 40 pounds of muscle, and is striving to gain another 15 on his newfound path to strength…
Using his organizational talents, Miles helps with the office administration; it’s likely you’ll be communicating with him when you email us. You can usually find him at his post in the office, teaching a HIIT class, reading health and success books, or working out alongside you!
